In today’s episode of Friendship Goals, we’ve got TikTok sensation-turned-pop princess Addison Rae showering her bestie and musical partner-in-crime Charli XCX with flowers—real or metaphorical? Who knows! Florists everywhere are on edge, just in case.
Addison, a sprightly 23-year-old “Diet Pepsi” singer (yes, that’s a real song and not a beverage commercial), has been vibing with Charli, the queen of cool at the ripe age of 32, since their collab days with Pandora jewelry. No word yet if the jewelry is also singing.
Lately, the two have upgraded from sparkly accessories to bangers on the charts. Addison’s track “2 Die 4” (a song title that sounds like it came straight out of a ‘90s teen drama) features Charli’s golden touch. And if that wasn’t enough, Charli’s upcoming remix album, lovingly dubbed Brat, includes a “Von Dutch” remix. Because apparently, Y2K isn’t just a fashion comeback, it’s a music genre now!
In a new interview, Addison was all hearts, stars, and rainbows about how much she adores working with Charli. Here’s the gist: Charli’s basically Addison’s music fairy godmother, except instead of turning pumpkins into carriages, she’s turning Addison’s vocals into chart-topping hits. On SiriusXM’s TikTok Radio (because of course that exists), Addison gushed over how Charli is her personal music mentor, and frankly, might as well be crowned queen of taste itself.
“She’s basically handed me a map of how to be cool in the music world,” Addison said, probably while sprinkling confetti in the air. “I owe her so many flowers. Like, imagine a whole garden. She’s given me insane advice, impeccable taste, and let’s be honest, if coolness was a pie, Charli’s got at least 90% of the slices.”
Addison wasn’t done there—oh no! She kept going: “Charli’s written a ridiculous amount of hit songs. Like, at this point, she’s probably written some hits you accidentally hummed in the shower last week. And the best part? She’s never sacrificed her artistry for anyone. She’s the ‘you’ll get it when you get it’ queen, and honestly, I’m just trying to ride the Charli train to hit-single-ville.”
At this point, Addison was basically ready to build a Charli shrine. “She’s always hyping me up. Charli’s like the ultimate hype woman, except cooler and with better hair,” she continued, probably with heart eyes at this point. “She’s an absolute ray of sunshine in the studio, and we have so much fun together. Like, I’m not even sure if we’re making music or just laughing at how cool we both are.”
In a twist no one saw coming, last year Charli declared her love for Addison’s music. Not only does she adore Addison’s taste, but she also casually mentioned she wants her to DJ her wedding. No pressure, Addison, just spin some bops while Charli ties the knot. Totally chill, right?
Oh, and in case you’ve been living under a rock—or maybe just not keeping up with MTV awards fashion—Addison recently dropped her new song “Diet Pepsi” and rocked a killer outfit at the 2024 VMAs. Sources say the outfit had the internet collectively gasping, clutching their pearls, and Googling “how to be Addison Rae.”
Meanwhile, Charli has been busy kicking off her Sweat Tour with none other than Troye Sivan. No word yet if they’re literally sweating on tour, but it’s safe to assume there’s at least some glow involved.
