Adam Devine, the guy who made us laugh our guts out in Pitch Perfect, is apparently shrinking his own gut—just in case a superhero franchise comes knocking. At 41, he’s swapping doughnuts for dumbbells and jokes for…well, still jokes, but now with fewer carbs.
In an interview with People, Adam spilled the beans (likely low-sodium and organic) about his newfound commitment to health. “This year, I’m in such a good rhythm with this, I just want to stay on it,” he said, oozing the kind of enthusiasm you only get from finally conquering the elliptical without crying. “And for me, I like where I’m at.” Translation: He’s found the sweet spot where his abs might exist—probably somewhere between pizza night and a reluctant salad.
But don’t expect a Chris Hemsworth-level transformation anytime soon. “I’m not trying to get super lean,” Adam clarified, before unleashing a zinger: “I just want to be in a place where if Marvel calls, I can answer.” In other words, he’s getting in shape for that crucial just-in-case Thor’s little brother casting call.
And it’s not just Marvel on his radar. Adam’s keeping his options open for any cinematic universe willing to let him squeeze into spandex. “If my phone rings and it’s James Gunn saying, ‘Hey, we’re ready to bring you into the DC universe,’ I could say, ‘Hey, give me a couple of months, and I’ll be there.’” Of course, in true Devine fashion, he’s probably already practicing his superhero landing—knee brace on standby.
So, if you’ve noticed Adam looking a little less dad bod and a little more dad bod-plus, it’s all part of the plan. Marvel, DC, or anyone with a cape to spare, you know where to find him—just give him 60 days to perfect his biceps…and maybe his heroic smolder.
