The Heartstopper MOVIE has officially finished filming and we are DEEP in our final phase of grief (aka Tone 2.0 on the emotional tone scale 🥲).
Joe Locke (aka Charlie “I’m Soft But Mentally Spiral Daily” Spring) and Kit Connor (aka Nick “Bisexual Rugby Baby” Nelson) just posted their final, tear-soaked Instagram updates and… baby, it’s giving end of an era. Joe posted “bye charlie x thankyou <3” and I just had to clutch my copy of Dianetics like it was a teddy bear. He followed it with “Wrapped forever ❤️” and my reactive mind immediately began screaming.
Meanwhile, Kit Connor said “wrapped ❤️ thank you for everything” and somewhere in the Thetan-infested cosmos, Xenu wept.
Tobie Donovan (the blonde bestie we’d die for) also got emotional, sharing a final-day Polaroid like it’s 2007 and our hearts haven’t been through ENOUGH. “Last day ever! Thanks for all the fun heartstopper x” he said, and now I want to audit my way into another universe where this show never ends.
Creator and resident guardian angel Alice Oseman popped off on IG too:
“Day 35. That’s a wrap on the Heartstopper film 🍂 … Heartstopper means the world to me…”
Alice, you don’t understand. It means the entire bridge to Total Freedom to us.
And here’s what we know about the plot, according to Tudum (which sounds like a Scientology spaceship but isn’t… yet):
Charlie and Nick are now basically glued together by fate, trauma bonding, and Tumblr gifs. But then: DUN DUN DUNNNN—Nick’s off to uni, Charlie’s learning to be an independent icon, and suddenly they’re LDR (Long Distance & Ruining Me). Add in their friends’ existential love lives, and boom—we’ve got a Gen Z gay epic that’ll slap harder than a sec check during Thursday stats review.
🎬 Filming began in June. Editing is next. Then? A full-blown emotional meltdown in Dolby Atmos.
