Whitney Port is giving us the behind-the-scenes scoop on her surrogacy saga, and let me tell you, it’s like a rollercoaster ride with a few extra loops and a lot of confetti. Chatting with E! News, the 39-year-old star is peeling back the curtain on her wild fertility adventure, which has been as smooth as a porcupine on a slip ‘n slide.
“So, picture this: I’m dealing with miscarriages and everyone’s got a PhD in unsolicited advice,” Port said. “I was like, ‘Great, now I’m confused AND paralyzed—awesome combo!’”
Despite the rough ride, Port is now embracing her inner superhero. She’s weathered some major storms, including three miscarriages, a chemical pregnancy, and her surrogate’s own two loss battles. Last November, their surrogacy rollercoaster screeched to a halt due to some sketchy vibes about the surrogate and the embryos. “I took a little ‘me’ time to recharge my batteries,” Port confessed.
But now, Port is ready to leap back into the surrogacy trenches with renewed gusto. “After numerous attempts, both with my own body and a surrogate, we’re gearing up for another egg retrieval in New York,” she announced, all while on the hunt for a new surrogate—because finding the right one is like dating, but with more medical paperwork.
While Port has fond memories of her son Sonny Sanford, who’s about to turn 7 and is basically the coolest kid on the block, she says her bond with him didn’t come with any extra emotional perks from carrying him.
In April, Port chatted with PEOPLE about her thoughts on giving IVF another whirl. On the show *Fertility, Unfiltered*, she said, “After a couple of rough patches with the surrogate and some personal losses, I’m at a place where I’m starting to ponder the idea of carrying again.”
Port is currently getting all sorts of tests done to see if her body’s up for the challenge once more. Even though it’s been a tough road, she’s keeping her chin up and not letting the struggles steal her sparkle.
Port’s unfiltered updates on her fertility journey serve as a heartfelt reminder of the highs and lows that come with it. As she charges ahead, her story continues to shine a light and offer hope to those in similar boats—complete with occasional water balloons and confetti.
