Selena Gomez just got a personal clapback from the White House, because apparently, crying on camera now requires government intervention. Who knew?
It all started when the 32-year-old singer/actress/beauty mogul/occasional Instagram queen posted a tearful video about the recent deportations happening under the Trump administration. Between sniffles, she said:
“All my people are getting attacked, the children. I don’t understand. I’m so sorry, I wish I could do something, but I can’t. I don’t know what to do. I’ll try everything, I promise.”
Aww, sweet, right? Nope. The internet came for her, pitchforks and all, forcing her to delete the video faster than a teenager regretting their 3 AM drunk tweet. She later fired back, saying: “Apparently it’s not OK to show empathy for people.”
Then, to add an extra layer of chaos, a senatorial candidate (who clearly had time that day) suggested she should be deported herself. Which is wild, considering she was born in Texas. But hey, why let facts get in the way of a good political meltdown?
Enter: The White House, Stage Right 🚨
Not one to let a viral moment slide, the White House responded with its own video featuring three mothers whose children were tragically murdered by undocumented immigrants. The message? “Selena, why you crying for them? Cry for us instead.”
One mother, Alexis Nungaray, side-eyed Selena’s video and said:
“Seeing that video, it’s hard to believe it’s real because she’s an actress.”
Oof. Not even her Only Murders in the Building Emmy nom could save her from that shade.
Another mother, Tammy Nobles, asked:
“What about our children who were brutally murdered? They didn’t cry for our daughters.”
The third, Patty Morin, called Selena’s video “a ruse to deceive people and to garner sympathy for lawlessness.”
The video wrapped up with all three women throwing their support behind Trump’s immigration policies. Because of course.
The Internet’s Verdict? Pure Chaos.
The internet, as usual, split in two—half siding with Selena, half saying she should stick to Rare Beauty launches and pop albums. Meanwhile, the White House has now officially entered its celebrity beef era, making us wonder: Who’s next? Beyoncé? Taylor Swift? Guy Fieri?
One thing’s for sure—Selena Gomez woke up one morning just wanting to vibe, and instead found herself in a full-on political firestorm. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why celebrities should never open the Notes app and start recording.
Kayla Hamilton, Jocelyn Nungaray, and Rachel Morin were murdered by illegal aliens.
