The View’s Halloween episode this year came with a twist that no one saw coming: no costumes. That’s right! This year, the squad of Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Ana Navarro, Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin, and Alyssa Farah Griffin decided to throw a curveball and show up in… regular clothes. Truly terrifying, right?
Historically, Halloween on daytime talk shows is an all-out costume frenzy where hosts morph into everything from witches and vampires to vaguely terrifying interpretations of pop culture icons. But apparently, 2024 was the year The View ladies decided to switch things up. And let’s face it, for a show known for its heated debates, what’s scarier than just keeping things normal?
So why the costume cold shoulder? According to Deadline, the wardrobe ax was all because they went live. Apparently, if they wanted to rock their Halloween best, they’d have had to tape the show in advance, and with Election Day creeping around the corner like a thriller movie villain, they chose “relevant news” over ghoul glam. Because when democracy’s on the line, who has time for face paint and wigs?
But don’t worry, the spirit of Halloween wasn’t completely left out to dry. The hosts pre-taped a segment that aired before the episode. So even if there were no costumes during the live show, the audience still got a little treat – and zero tricks.
