Dan and Eugene Levy are making waves on stage!
The dynamic father-son duo took the spotlight as the hosts of the 2024 Emmy Awards on Sunday (September 15) at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, and boy, did they make it memorable!
In their opening monologue, Dan and Eugene unleashed a roast so hot it could’ve been served with a side of chili. They took aim at The Bear, which was nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series despite having about as many laughs as a tax audit.
“The Bear is nominated for 23 Emmys tonight—yes, you heard that right, 23! That’s more nominations than a cat has lives!” Eugene quipped. “Now, don’t get me wrong, I adore the show. But let’s be honest, if The Bear is a comedy, then I’m a professional trampoline artist. And in the true spirit of The Bear, we’ll be skipping the jokes entirely.”
Dan jumped in with his own brand of humor, calling their hosting gig a “massive risk” since “actors pretending to be hosts is like a dog pretending to be a cat.”
“If tonight goes smoothly, my name will be pronounced ‘Leh-vy,’ not ‘Lee-vy,’” Dan said, adding a playful grin. Eugene chimed in, “And if we crash and burn, my name will mysteriously morph into ‘Martin Short.’”
Talk about a family affair—these two know how to bring the laughs while keeping the audience on their toes!
