Sydney Sweeney Looks Unrecognizable As Boxer Christy Martin In First Look At Biopic

Buy Me A Coffee

Sydney Sweeney is packing a punch—literally! The 27-year-old actress has undergone a full-blown metamorphosis to portray legendary boxer Christy Martin, and she just dropped the official “sneak peek” after some sneaky paparazzi got there first. (Nothing says showbiz like getting out-scooped by a bush with a telephoto lens.)

Sydney, embracing the chaos like a champ, took to Instagram to spill the tea:
> “Well, the cat’s out of the bag thanks to some paps in bushes 🐈🌳, so here’s a little BTS from my new film project. Over the last few months, I’ve been punching things other than my alarm clock—immersed in training to tell the story of an incredible woman. A true legend, who fought battles in AND out of the ring, and I’m honored to lace up her shoes (which, FYI, are a lot harder to walk in than you’d think). More to come soon! :)”

In the photos, Sydney’s giving us guns—and we’re not talking water pistols. She’s rocking some swole biceps, a new brunette ‘do, and workout gear that screams “Come at me, bro.” 🏋️‍♀️ The snaps—taken by the talented Eddy Chen—show Sydney ready to punch her way through the patriarchy AND protein bars alike. But wait—there’s more! Not only is Sydney starring in the flick, but she’s also pulling double duty as a producer through her company Fifty-Fifty Films. Talk about multitasking! One minute she’s squaring up in a boxing ring, the next she’s probably juggling production schedules like, “Yeah, I can punch that problem out, too.”

The movie, directed by David Michôd, dives into the life of Christy Martin, a young gay woman growing up in 1990s small-town Virginia—a place where being yourself was about as welcome as flip-flops in a snowstorm. 🥶
> “Christy’s family was… let’s just say not super cool with who she was,” Michôd explains. “She found boxing as an outlet to express herself—and, you know, channel some serious rage. But in the process, she had to make some tough and dangerous choices, including marrying a man who made every true-crime podcast villain look like a puppy.” 😬

So buckle up, because it sounds like Sydney Sweeney is about to deliver a knockout performance—and quite possibly the best biceps in Hollywood history. We can’t wait to see her punch drama in the face and make cinema her ring. 🥊🎥
