Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse has finally picked a day to swing into theaters—June 4, 2027. Yes, you read that right. 2027. That means some of us will have aged into a whole new tax bracket by the time this movie drops.
Originally set to release in March 2024, the film got yeeted into the future thanks to the 2023 Hollywood strikes. But hey, what’s a three-year delay when you’re dealing with the multiverse? Time is fake there anyway.
Sony made the big announcement at CinemaCon, where they also dropped some new images from the film. (No, they did not come with a time machine to make the wait any shorter.)
For those of you who need a quick refresher: Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) won an Oscar and made us all fall in love with animated Spidey chaos. Then, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023) made us suffer through a brutal cliffhanger. And now, Beyond the Spider-Verse will finally wrap up Miles Morales’ saga… assuming we all live long enough to see it.
According to Deadline, the plot will see Miles Morales on the run, with his friends—including Gwen—possibly unable to save him. So, basically, more emotional turmoil and stunning animation while we scream at the screen.
June 4, 2027—mark your calendars, set your reminders, and maybe start emotionally preparing yourself now.
