Robert “I glitter in the sun and steal hearts” Pattinson might be teleporting into the Dune universe for the third movie, Dune: Messiah. That’s right—Batman, Edward Cullen, and maybe now a villain in space. The man collects iconic roles like they’re Pokémon cards.
Director Denis Villeneuve is cooking up Dune 3 as we speak (probably in a minimalist kitchen surrounded by sand-colored aesthetic mugs), and he’s already got the returning dream team of Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, and Florence Pugh on board. Yes, it’s basically the Met Gala on Mars.
Now, the gossip from Deadline says Robbie P isn’t officially in yet—no ink on paper, no spit on handshake. But he is being “eyed” for a “significant role.” And no, not just a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameo as “Confused Space Guy #7.” We’re talking major role. Big deal. Possibly the villain. Possibly someone named Scytale, which honestly sounds like a villain that charges $12.99 for a coffee and doesn’t give you Wi-Fi.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, this character would be a big baddie in the Dune: Messiah storyline, and if Robert signs on, we might finally get the “sexy villain in the desert” we didn’t know we needed.
So stay tuned, because if Rob jumps into this sci-fi sandstorm, it’s about to get real dramatic, real dusty, and real delicious.
