Renée Zellweger is gearing up for a new gig!
The 55-year-old actress is jumping into the legal jungle to star in and boss around everyone on the set of Jane Smith, a legal thriller that’s got all the drama you could shake a gavel at, according to Deadline.
This juicy project is inspired by the bestselling novel 12 Months to Live by the dynamic duo, James Patterson and Mike Lupica. And where’s it headed? To Max, with Miki Johnson from Ozark wielding the pen and cracking the whip as writer and showrunner.
Now, hold onto your wigs, here’s the scoop: Jane Smith is all about a super smart, tough-as-nails, and hilariously sarcastic defense attorney strutting her stuff in the Hamptons. Jane, played by Zellweger, is all about that win, baby! But just when she’s about to tackle the case of her career, life decides to throw a pie in her face: she’s diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor. Plot twist! Instead of binge-watching soap operas and eating ice cream, Jane decides her impending doom won’t slow her down from cracking the case. Drama, danger, and personal stakes? Check, check, and check!
The book 12 Months To Live hit the shelves in September 2023 and is the first in the Jane Smith series. The sequel, Hard to Kill, is ready to roll out on July 29. The producers, clearly in love with the smell of a hit franchise, are eyeing up a whole buffet of installments based on the subsequent novels, says Deadline.
So, get your popcorn and gavel ready, because this one’s bound to be a wild ride!
