Princess Anne has been on quite the wild ride! The 73-year-old royal, also known as the sister of King Charles, recently had an unexpected rendezvous with a horse that landed her in the hospital. And when we say rendezvous, we mean she might have been hit by the horse – who knew horses could be so dramatic?
Apparently, this equine encounter was so shocking that it caused our dear Princess Anne to lose a bit of her memory. Imagine trying to remember where you put your crown after that! But don’t worry, after spending a few days in the hospital, her hubby, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, confirmed that she has been released and is now convalescing at home. We bet the royal remote control and a comfy throne are involved in her recovery.
In a plot twist worthy of a soap opera, on Monday (July 1), the Canadian Governor General shared a heartfelt message from Princess Anne during a ceremony marking the 100th anniversary of the Newfoundland National War Memorial. The Princess expressed her regret for not being able to attend the event, and we can only assume she was channeling her inner Shakespeare while doing so.
“It is with deep regret that I am unable to be with you today, as you commemorate the brave efforts and sacrifices of the members of the Newfoundland Regiment who went into battle on the first day of the Somme,” Princess Anne’s statement read, likely while she was sipping on some royal tea and snuggling with a corgi or two.
“I have fond memories of joining you in 2016, on the 99th occasion that the people of this Island commemorated the Battle of Beaumont Hamel, and I am deeply saddened that I’m unable to join you again, and I send you my warmest best wishes on this special day of commemoration,” she added, possibly while imagining herself astride a much more cooperative horse.
Princess Anne was all set to jet off to Canada before her unexpected hospital detour. But fear not, she’ll be back to her royal duties in no time – after all, you can’t keep a good princess down for long, especially one with such a knack for dramatic exits!
