Wizards Beyond Waverly Place is swooping in like a flying carpet that you forgot you left on autopilot. The magical continuation we’ve been waiting for finally premieres with not one but TWO episodes (because Disney loves giving you just enough magic to keep you hooked) on Tuesday, October 29, at 8 p.m. ET on Disney Channel.
Can’t make it to the TV? No worries, my fellow Muggle—er, I mean non-magical friend—because the next day, Wednesday, October 30, you can binge the first eight episodes faster than Alex Russo can conjure a sarcasm spell. Catch ’em all on Disney+ and Disney Channel On Demand (yes, that service you “borrow” from your cousin).
Now for the kicker: Raven-Symoné (that’s right, That’s So Raven is about to get wizardy) and Danielle Fishel (Boy Meets World’s ultimate ‘90s hair-flip queen) are directing episodes in Season 1. Basically, we’re being gifted with a dream team of nostalgia that could probably raise the dead, or at least raise your interest levels.
The Plot (As Crazy as Ever)
Here’s the lowdown: Our boy, Justin Russo (David Henrie, the guy who always made sure no magical hijinks happened—but failed miserably every time) has officially left his wand in the drawer to live a “normal” life. You know, like paying bills, taking out the trash, and wondering why the dog is levitating again. He’s got a wife now, Giada (Mimi Gianopulos), and two kids, Roman (Alkaio Thiele) and Milo (Max Matenko), who probably think Dad’s just a really talented magician who won America’s Got Talent back in the day.
But don’t get too comfortable, because here comes the ultimate plot twist: Justin’s little sister, Alex Russo (yes, the queen herself, guest star Selena Gomez), shows up at his doorstep with Billie (Janice LeAnn Brown), a wizard-in-training who probably wreaks more havoc than a cat in a yarn store. Now Justin has to juggle mentoring Billie (aka trying not to let her set the house on fire with magic) while keeping his family in one piece AND making sure the Wizard World doesn’t implode. Easy, right?
But wait, there’s more! We’ve also got Winter (Taylor Cora), who’s joining the magical shenanigans, probably bringing her own brand of chaos because, let’s face it, things are never smooth in wizard land.
What’s Next?
After the Disney Channel premiere, you’ll get a Halloween-themed episode on October 30. Think flying broomsticks, spells gone wrong, and candy corn that mysteriously multiplies. Then, starting November 8, grab your popcorn and prepare to laugh (or cry because magic is real but only on TV) with two brand-new episodes every Friday at 8 p.m. ET.
So, cancel your Friday night plans (we both know you were going to binge-watch something anyway), because Wizards Beyond Waverly Place is about to make your life a whole lot more magical… and ridiculous.
