Post Malone just swapped his rap game for a rodeo of twang! On Friday, August 16, our favorite face-tattooed troubadour dropped his sixth studio album, hilariously dubbed F-1 Trillion. Yes, that’s right, Post Malone is now officially the proud owner of a country album that sounds like it was recorded during a wild BBQ with Tim McGraw, Morgan Wallen, Dolly Parton, Jelly Roll, and a whole lineup of other country legends who probably never thought they’d be in the same room as Post Malone.
In an exclusive sit-down with Apple Music, Post Malone confessed he’s been itching to dive into country music for ages but felt like he was trying to learn how to ride a bull in a room full of sheep. “I knew I wanted to do this country thing for a while,” he said, looking like he’d just discovered a new flavor of ice cream. “But it felt like trying to find my way out of a maze blindfolded—except the maze was filled with banjos and cowboy boots. I didn’t get how it all worked, like what was a band day? And how do you even get one of those session dudes to stop by? I kept wondering, ‘Is this the kind of band you just stick with or do you get a new one each time?’”
Post then went on about his experience meeting the Nashville crew—Derek Wells, Larry Franklin, Paul Franklin, Craig Young, Dave Cohen, and Aaron Sterling—sounding like a kid who just got invited to a superhero convention. “I met all these amazing people and it was like, wow, this is so cool!” he said, possibly while doing a happy dance in his new cowboy boots.
In other news, Post Malone also gave a rare glimpse into his personal life, mentioning his fiancée and their adorable 2-year-old daughter. Apparently, they’re still living the dream, and Post’s life now involves a lot more twang and a lot fewer face tattoos—well, maybe not the tattoos part.
So, if you’re ready to hear Post Malone’s take on country music, saddle up and download F-1 Trillion on iTunes or stream it on Spotify. Yeehaw!
