Miley Cyrus, the queen of wrecking balls and heartbreak anthems, has something else to cry about — wildfires. The pop icon opened up about the emotional inferno she endured when her Malibu home got roasted to a crisp back in 2018. Spoiler alert: It wasn’t a Hannah Montana episode.
Fast-forward to today, and Miley, now 32, is back on social media. Not for a wild twerking video this time, but to channel her inner philanthropist and spread the word about how others can help battle the current Los Angeles wildfires. And when Miley says donate, you don’t argue. You grab your wallet and do it.
A Grim Throwback
On Saturday (January 11), Miley took to Instagram to share a photo of her former home—or, well, the ashes of it. “This photo hits me harder than a wrecking ball,” she wrote, and honestly, we’d expect no less from her. It was a picture of her front porch, or what was left of it after the Woolsey fires decided to play “Hot Potato” with her dream home.
Walking us down her emotional rubble lane, Miley wrote, “You know that feeling when you open the front door expecting hugs and snacks, and instead you’re greeted by what looks like an accidental bonfire gone way too far? Yeah, it’s not the vibe.”
Malibu Barbie, Meet Malibu Ashtray
Miley went full-on poetic as she mourned her city, writing, “Los Angeles represents living the dream.” And apparently, dreams sometimes end up as smoke signals. “The reality today is wreckage and destruction,” she added, while probably side-eyeing her city’s very flammable palm trees.
She didn’t stop there. Oh no. Miley reminded us all that healing takes “time, resources, and dedication.” Translation: Stop doom-scrolling and do something useful.
The Ghost of Relationships Past
Let’s not forget the “magic” home in question. This wasn’t just any house—it was the place she once shared with her ex-husband Liam Hemsworth. Yep, the same guy she broke up with more times than your average soap opera couple. In a 2023 interview, Miley reflected on the home’s loss, probably wondering if the fire was the universe’s way of saying, “Girl, it’s time to move on.”
Miley has proved once again that she can handle anything — heartbreak, house fires, and even those questionable VMAs moments. If anyone can rise from the ashes like a glittery, vocal phoenix, it’s Miley.
So, let’s take a cue from her and channel our inner do-gooders. Donate, raise awareness, and maybe stop lighting candles near dry grass, okay?
Completely devestated by the fires affecting my community. I am one of the lucky ones. My animals and LOVE OF MY LIFE made it out safely & that’s all that matters right now. My house no longer stands but the memories shared with family & friends stand strong. I am grateful for
