Michelle Obama just reminded everyone who really calls the shots in the Obama household.
The former First Lady got real about parenthood while chatting with Kylie Kelce on the Not Gonna Lie podcast, where she revealed that Barack Obama once had the wild idea of expanding their family—an idea Michelle immediately shut down with the force of a thousand executive orders.
The Obamas are proud parents to Malia, 26, and Sasha, 23, and according to Michelle, that was more than enough.
“I was like, ‘You know what? We really lucked out with these two,’” Michelle recalled. “And then Barack comes in all optimistic, like, ‘We should have a third!’ and I was like, ‘Sir. Absolutely not. Read the room.’”
Kylie, who is currently expecting her fourth child with NFL star Jason Kelce, totally got where Michelle was coming from.
“Two good sleepers? I’d call it quits, too,” Kylie said.
And Michelle? She had her reasons.
“I just knew we were playing with fire. You get two good kids, but that third one? That’s the one that shows up with chaos in their DNA,” she joked.
But the conversation didn’t stop there. Michelle and Kylie bonded over their husbands being classic girl dads.
“That’s exactly what your husband deserved,” Michelle told Kylie. “That’s what I told Barack too. ‘Dude, you needed women in your life to keep you in check. This is karma.’”
And in case you were hoping Michelle Obama might run for President someday? She shut that down real fast.
“I wanted my kids to have a normal life, not cameras following them to buy toothpaste,” she explained. “So when people ask me if I’d ever run, the answer is a hard no. If you’re asking me that, then you clearly have no idea how much kids sacrifice when their parents are in that position.”
She added that she’s “not interested in politics like that.”
“The thought of putting my girls back in the spotlight? Nope. We’ve done our time. We’ve served our sentence. No appeal necessary.”
And honestly? Fair.
