Lupita Nyong’o was not playing around on the red carpet at the opening night of Teeth on Thursday (aka Halloween!) at New World Stages in New York City. Oh, no. She was bringing the thunder — quite literally! The Tony-nominated actress and MCU queen gave us a little Marvel crossover moment, stepping out as Storm from X-Men for the new musical’s Off-Broadway premiere. She wasn’t just dressed to impress; she was dressed to control the weather. Get on her bad side, and you just might need an umbrella.

Lupita even shared her costume glory on Instagram with a video, captioning it with a cheeky, “Employees must wash hands — Marvel Management.” It’s official: we’re washing our hands in preparation for every future post from her. With hashtags like #StormAtWork and #happyhalloween, she showed us that Storm doesn’t need a forecast — she is the forecast.

But Lupita wasn’t the only Broadway big shot electrifying the evening. Also in the audience were some serious Wicked alumni, Jessica Vosk and Eden Espinosa, both of whom famously played green-faced icon Elphaba. (The Glinda-Elphaba reunion dreams were so close yet so far!) Tony-winning powerhouse Katrina Lenk and Grammy-winning songwriter Abigail Barlow also made appearances, probably thinking, “Yep, we’re here for Teeth, but Lupita as Storm? That’s an unexpected headliner.”

Now, onto Teeth itself. The story follows Dawn O’Keefe, a devoted evangelical teen with a… uh… let’s just say “sharp” surprise up her sleeve. Or, well, not her sleeve exactly. Her body has a bit of a “bite back” mechanism that comes out when men cross the line. Yep, you read that right, and nope, it’s not a metaphor. This Off-Broadway musical is inspired by the cult-classic film of the same name, so if you’re into dark comedy, horror, or tales of literal “girl power,” Teeth might be your new obsession.
