Zoe Saldaña and Nicole Kidman are back to kick some serious butt in the second season of their action-packed, butt-kicking series Lioness! That’s right, the 46-year-old Zoe and the 57-year-old Nicole are showing us all that age is just a number—and that number is “still absolutely crushing it.”
Streaming on Paramount+ (because apparently we all have 47 streaming subscriptions now), Lioness is dropping its new season in October. Yes, October—the month when pumpkin spice lattes, spooky decorations, and now, covert CIA missions are the hottest trends.
So, what’s going down in Season 2, you ask? Well, grab your popcorn, because here’s the scoop: The CIA’s fight against terror is getting real close to home. Like, next-door-neighbor-close. Joe (played by Saldaña) teams up with Kaitlyn (Kidman) and Byron (played by Michael Kelly) to recruit a fresh new Lioness operative who’s probably going to infiltrate some top-secret, ultra-dangerous, world-saving situation. No big deal.
But wait! There’s more! Joe’s life is getting messier than a toddler with a chocolate fountain, as she starts realizing the massive personal sacrifices she’s made to be the queen of the Lioness program. Spoiler alert: being a CIA boss lady is tough! Also, where’s the vacation time, CIA?
Joining this A-list cast are the legendary Morgan Freeman—because, obviously, if you’re saving the world, you want Morgan Freeman narrating it—and some other rockstars like Laysla De Oliveira, Genesis Rodriguez, and a bunch of folks with names that sound like they were destined for a high-speed action flick: Dave Annable, Jill Wagner, LaMonica Garrett, and more. I mean, Thad Luckinbill? If that’s not an action hero name, I don’t know what is.
Oh, and did I mention Zoe and Nicole are also executive producing the show? Because apparently, starring in AND executive producing a CIA drama is just a regular Tuesday for these powerhouse women. Lioness, which sprang from the brain of Taylor Sheridan (creator of “I like to make epic things”), hits your screens on Sunday, October 27th.
So, set your calendars, grab your snacks, and prepare for some intense CIA drama, sprinkled with the occasional Nicole Kidman death stare and Zoe Saldaña doing what she does best: being an absolute badass.
