Oh, the drama! Lady Gaga, the queen of fashion shock and awe, was a no-show at the 2024 Met Gala. Yes, you heard it right. The Met Gala, where fashion meets outrageousness and where Gaga’s presence is as expected as sequins on a drag queen, happened without her strutting the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
But fear not, my glitter-loving friends, Gaga did not leave us in the dark. The 38-year-old pop goddess, who has been MIA from the Met since 2019, took to social media to reveal what we missed. And boy, did we miss something!
Gaga, always the tease, dropped a bomb on Instagram with photos of herself rocking an AZIZ gown and a Philip Treacy mask. This wasn’t just any gown and mask, mind you. This was a look so avant-garde that it could make a fashion student weep with confusion and joy. She wore this getup to the premiere of her Gaga Chromatic Ball, making us wish we had been there to witness the spectacle in person.
“THIS IS WHAT I WOULD HAVE WORN TO THE MET GALA. THE GIMP OF THE GARDEN,” she proclaimed in her caption, using caps lock like a true diva.
The theme for the 2024 Met Gala was “The Garden of Time,” and Gaga’s ensemble would have been more on point than a sunflower in a spring garden. She would have fit the theme so perfectly that even the flowers would have taken a bow.
So, while we’re left to ponder why Gaga skipped the biggest night in fashion (Was it a cosmic alignment? Did her teleportation device malfunction?), at least we have the Instagram reveal to comfort us. And who knows, maybe next year she’ll show up in a dress made entirely of live bees. We can only hope.
