Kristin Davis just dropped some juicy behind-the-scenes gossip about And Just Like That, and honestly? We’ve been robbed.
The 60-year-old Sex and the City star revealed that the show once had big plans to bring back Charlotte’s ex-husband, Trey (played by Kyle MacLachlan), but in typical AJLT fashion, those plans went poof faster than Miranda’s personality.
Speaking on her podcast Are You A Charlotte? (which, by the way, we need to discuss—are we Charlotte? Are you Charlotte?), Kristin spilled the details of the plot that never was.
“I absolutely adore Kyle MacLachlan,” she gushed, reminiscing about their time together on the original show. Fun fact: He was originally only supposed to be around for five episodes, but the SATC squad fell harder for him than Charlotte did for his, uh… medically challenged bedroom skills. So, naturally, they kept him around longer.
Now, here’s where things get interesting: Apparently, there was a plan to bring Trey back for And Just Like That, but for reasons that remain unclear (and probably involve astrology, scheduling conflicts, or just the writers being chaotic), it never happened.
“I was actually mad at Kyle,” Kristin confessed. “I was like, ‘Dude, why didn’t you come on? We wanted you to come on!’” (Can we get this confrontation on camera, please?)
Kyle, ever the classy gent, had his reasons. “He just wanted it to be amazing,” Kristin explained. Basically, he didn’t want to return just to have some tragic, tear-stained reunion that would leave fans clutching their pearls and saying, “Oh no, not another emotional gut-punch.”
The lost episode would have featured Charlotte revealing to the girls that she and Trey hadn’t spoken at all since their split. And honestly? That’s kinda shocking. Like, we knew their marriage was rocky, but total radio silence? Even Carrie still texts Big from beyond the grave (too soon?).
Kristin personally felt the storyline had unfinished business, both on-screen and in real life. “I really want Charlotte to see Trey again,” she admitted, “and I also want to see Kyle again.” (Same, girl, same.)
Her ideal scenario? A casual run-in at a fancy event or restaurant—because let’s be real, Charlotte York-Goldenblatt is not out here bumping into exes at the local Target.
But even though she gave Kyle a hard time about ghosting the show, she eventually saw his point. “When you’ve played such an iconic role, you want it to stay perfect in people’s memories,” she said. “And if there’s a chance it could turn into a sad, depressing moment… maybe it’s better left untouched.”
Fair. But also: Justice for Trey! Bring him back for season 3, even if it’s just for one hilariously awkward dinner party. We need closure!
