While hosting the star-studded event on Sunday night (February 23), Kristen Bell—forever the voice of our favorite scandalous socialite blog—decided to bring a little Gossip Girl magic back to life. And who better to help than actual former Gossip Girl queen, Leighton Meester?
With her signature narrator voice activated, Kristen leaned into the mic like she was about to expose Manhattan’s messiest secrets and announced:
“Hey, everyone, Gossip Girl here. One of my sources, LeMee86, sends me this: ‘Spotted at Table 8: Jeff Goldblum has a Wicked appetite. And a peek behind the curtain reveals he likes his green eggs with ham. And look who it is, not-so-lonely boy Timothée Chalamet sitting next to a hot steak, medium rare, au poivre with a side of—”
At this point, the camera panned to Kristen, now crouched next to Leighton Meester at her table like an overly enthusiastic restaurant critic.
“Leighton, none of this is gossip,” Kristen deadpanned. “It’s just…a dinner order.”
Leighton, unfazed and fully committed to her craft (and possibly her carbs), casually took a bite of bread and replied, “Sorry, I’m just really hungry.”
Honestly? A mood.
Kristen, never one to miss an opportunity for dramatics, sighed. “The popes in Conclave were better at gossiping than us. I think we should pass the torch.”
Leighton, between bites: “Amen.”
And just like that, the most iconic reboot of Gossip Girl we’ll ever get lasted approximately 30 seconds—and involved more food than drama. But hey, at least we got a legendary crossover and proof that even former Gossip Girls need their snacks.
