Hold onto your cowboy hats, because Kevin Costner has officially wrangled himself right out of Yellowstone! Yep, you heard it right – our favorite ranch boss is saying adios to the Dutton ranch.
Now, before you start throwing your remote at the TV, let’s break it down. The first half of season five moseyed onto our screens at the end of 2022, and the second half is taking the scenic route, not arriving until November 2024. But here’s the kicker – Kevin won’t be saddling up for that second half.
In true Hollywood fashion, Kevin chose Instagram to drop this bombshell while he was busy tooting the horn for his new movie, Horizon: An American Saga, set to hit theaters June 28.
Picture this: Kevin, looking ruggedly handsome as always, says, “Hey y’all. So, after spending what feels like an eternity working on Horizon and juggling all the cowboy stuff, I had a little chat with myself about Yellowstone – that show we all adore. And well, drumroll please, I’ve decided I won’t be riding into Season 5b or any future seasons.”
He added, “This gig was a wild ride. I loved every minute of it, and I know you did too. But it’s time for me to hang up my spurs.” He wrapped it up with, “Thanks for the memories, partners. Catch you at the movies!”
Kevin, the man who brought John Dutton III to life, won’t be back due to the pesky writers’ strike throwing a wrench in the works. The end of an era. Time to stock up on tissues and start planning your movie nights because that’s where you’ll find our cowboy from now on! Yeehaw!
