Katy Perry has just dropped a music video that will make your morning coffee seem like a tranquil cup of chamomile tea. At the crack of dawn on Friday (Sept. 13, also known as the unluckiest day to release a music video unless you’re Katy Perry), the 39-year-old pop diva blessed us with a scorcher for her latest track, “I’m His, He’s Mine.” And guess what? She teamed up with none other than Doechii, the queen of cool and making you question your life choices at 26.
Picture this: Katy Perry, as bold as ever, jumps out of a plane while passionately locking lips with a male model. That’s right—she’s casually defying gravity while multitasking like a pro. But wait, it doesn’t stop there! As if skydiving PDA wasn’t enough, she then decides to channel her inner car hood gymnast. Yes, Katy is ON the hood of a car, singing her heart out, possibly ruining the paint job in the process. (Is that covered by insurance? We have questions.)
The chorus is a certified bop, too. Katy and Doechii confidently belt out, “I’m his queen, I’m his freak / I’m every woman he wants and needs,” followed by the powerful, “I’m his dream, I’m his drug / I’m every woman he wants, so what?” Translation: They’re a whole buffet of fabulousness, and anyone else can eat their heart out.
This sizzling anthem is just the latest off Katy’s highly anticipated album 143 (which, in case you were born yesterday, is code for “I Love You” because apparently Katy’s still got those middle school AIM vibes). Katy and Doechii actually gave us a sneak peek of this auditory fireball during the 2024 MTV VMAs earlier this week. And, oh yeah, no big deal or anything, but Katy also casually walked away with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. Just your typical Tuesday night.
Get your earbuds and flame-retardant suits ready because 143 is dropping like a flaming asteroid on September 20. Will the album melt your face off? Almost definitely. Will you love every second of it? You better believe it.
