Joshua Jackson, aka everyone’s favorite Dawson’s Creek heartthrob, just got a harsh reminder that wildfires don’t care if you’re famous. His childhood home turned adult bachelor pad went up in flames faster than a microwave marshmallow, courtesy of the relentless Palisades Fire in Los Angeles.
The Topanga Canyon abode, which Joshua bought in 2001, is now officially off the grid—and not in the cool, eco-friendly way. The house? Toast. The surrounding hillside? Extra crispy. But the pool? Oh, that bad boy is standing tall, proving that sometimes, chlorinated water can take the heat.
Meanwhile, the wildfire has been serving up disaster across 20,000 acres, with only 11% of it contained by Saturday. Over 100,000 people have been evacuated, and tragically, 11 lives have been lost. It’s like Mother Nature decided to throw a bonfire party and forgot to invite the fire department.
Joshua isn’t the only celebrity checking Zillow for “fireproof mansions” this week. The inferno has also claimed the homes of Paris Hilton (that’s hot, but not in a good way), Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag (do crystals ward off flames? Apparently not), Anna Faris, Adam Brody and Leighton Meester (Gossip Girl, you’re not burning XOXO), Billy Crystal, John Goodman, Eugene Levy, Jeff Bridges, and even Candy Spelling. It’s an A-list episode of Extreme Makeover: Ashes Edition.
While we can joke about the pool surviving like the lone warrior it is, the devastation is no laughing matter. Here’s hoping the fire gets contained soon, and Joshua can rebuild his home—or at least turn that pool into the centerpiece of a very dramatic comeback story.
