Jonathan Jackson is making a dramatic return to the ABC television network’s beloved soap opera, General Hospital.
The 42-year-old thespian’s grand re-entry has been confirmed by a source who whispered it to People magazine between bites of a doughnut.
Jackson took a digital megaphone to his official Instagram on June 25, sharing the big news with a video. In it, he practically jumped through the screen with excitement, exclaiming, “I’m super excited and can’t wait to dig in and see what’s going on in Port Charles.” And no, he wasn’t talking about a new buffet in town.
Known for his role in Tuck Everlasting (which did not last as long as this soap gig), Jackson expressed his bubbling joy about reprising the role of Lucky Spencer. “I can’t wait to see Genie Francis and the rest of the gang. And to all the fans who’ve stuck around — your relentless loyalty and love have been like a never-ending soap opera plot twist. Thank you!”
He also gave a shout-out to the soap’s big boss, saying, “A huge thanks to Frank Valentini and everyone at ABC for rolling out the welcome mat. I promise not to spill any coffee on it.”
Wrapping up his video message with a virtual hug, he said, “Sending much love and I guess I’ll be seeing you all soon. Unless my GPS fails me.”
For those scratching their heads, wondering who this chap is, Jackson played Lucky Spencer from 1993 to 2011 before he jumped ship for other adventures. He also serenaded viewers on Nashville as Avery Barkley, until that show sang its final tune in 2018.
So buckle up, Port Charles, because Jonathan Jackson is back, and it’s going to be one heck of a ride!
