Jenny McCarthy has lived to tell the terrifying tale of her short-lived attempt at going vegan—and spoiler alert: it did not go well.
On a recent episode of the Heal Squad x Maria Menounos podcast, the 52-year-old Masked Singer judge opened up about the plant-based disaster that nearly sent her to the great beyond.
“I literally almost died,” McCarthy confessed. “I became so ill. I was exhausted, fatigued, and basically a walking zombie—but without the cool undead street cred.”
Turns out, her celiac disease and a pesky soy allergy teamed up like villainous nutrition bullies to make sure her vegan dreams crashed and burned faster than a microwaved salad. With limited options to get the nutrients she needed, Jenny quickly realized she was spiraling.
Enter: meat.
Following her doctor’s advice (and possibly the distant, ghostly whisper of a cheeseburger calling her name), she reintroduced animal products into her diet. And just like that, the fog lifted. Energy? Restored. Hunger? Satisfied. Kale? Probably still traumatized.
However, McCarthy was quick to acknowledge that dietary choices are deeply personal.
“It’s what you believe, and you have to follow your intuition,” she advised. “Also, maybe listen to your actual body. Because trust me, mine was screaming, ‘FOR THE LOVE OF BACON, STOP THIS MADNESS.’”
So, while some thrive on tofu and chickpeas, Jenny learned the hard way that she belongs to the sacred cult of cheeseburgers. And honestly? Respect.
