Hollywood’s golden boy Glen Powell is about to tackle (pun absolutely intended) the role of a lifetime, and it’s all happening in his new Hulu series. Introducing… drumroll, please… Chad Powers! That’s right, Chad Powers – a name that screams “I drink protein shakes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.”
The 35-year-old actor, best known for his ability to look annoyingly handsome in any situation, has teamed up with the wizard behind Loki and Rick and Morty, Michael Waldron, to create a half-hour comedy. Oh, and did we mention Eli Manning is along for the ride? Yes, that Eli Manning. Apparently, being a two-time Super Bowl champ wasn’t enough for him – he had to go and create a sketch on ESPN+ that birthed the legend of Chad Powers. Like Frankenstein’s monster, but with more touchdowns and less existential dread.
Now, this week, the internet was blessed with a sneak peek at Glen Powell in full Chad Powers mode, and let me tell you, it’s a look. Hulu dropped the official first photo of Glen as Chad, and it’s like someone described a midlife crisis over the phone. Imagine if Thor had a secret twin who was a little less “God of Thunder” and a little more “God of Questionable Life Choices.” That’s Chad Powers.
Let’s talk about the hair. Oh, the hair. Glen is rocking a long, shaggy blonde wig that screams “I once had a Nirvana phase I never grew out of.” And the nose? That’s no ordinary nose. That’s a prosthetic nose. A nose so majestic it could lead an army of other noses into battle. And what’s the cherry on top of this football sundae? A mustache that looks like it was drawn on by a toddler who was really passionate about facial hair.
But wait – it gets better. According to the official synopsis, Chad Powers is no ordinary football star. Nope. He’s Russ Holliday, a hotshot quarterback whose bad behavior torpedoes his college career faster than you can say “Why did you throw that pass, Chad?!” Forced to go undercover (cue dramatic football music), he joins a struggling Southern football team as the talented (because of course he is), affable (probably just means he has good hair) Chad Powers.
What could go wrong? Probably everything. But will it be hilarious? You bet your prosthetic nose it will be.
Prepare yourselves for what might just be the most ridiculous sports story ever told. Chad Powers, coming soon to a Hulu account near you!
