Glen Powell, Hollywood’s resident heartthrob/action star/guy-who-looks-like-he-gives-great-high-fives, is boldly going where no Powell has gone before: into the realm of sci-fi thrillers!
That’s right, on this fine day of March 13, the entertainment gods have blessed us with news that our boy Glen, 36 (but still giving “just graduated from college” energy), has locked in his next gig. He’ll be starring in The Natural Order, an upcoming sci-fi flick directed by the brilliant Barry Jenkins—yes, that Barry Jenkins, the mastermind behind Moonlight and If Beale Street Could Talk.
This cinematic adventure, based on an unpublished manuscript (because why bother with something people have actually read?), is described as a “sci-fi thriller centering on the search for eternal life.” Translation: Prepare for existential crises, mind-bending visuals, and at least one scene where Glen stares intensely at a futuristic gadget while looking very concerned.
Barry, 45, is not only directing but also co-writing the screenplay with the book’s author, Matthew Aldrich. That’s teamwork, baby!
In even more exciting news, The Natural Order will be the first film under Glen’s brand-new producing venture, Barnstorm, which he launched with his producing buddy Dan Cohen. They just inked a first-look deal with Universal last month, and BOOM—they’re already out here making sci-fi epics. Power moves only.
Oh, and in case you forgot—Glen is also starring in the upcoming Running Man remake, where he’ll presumably be running, man.
Sci-fi, action, existential dread, and Glen Powell looking really good while possibly battling robots? Yeah, we’re in.
