The first trailer for Rashida Jones’ new mystery thriller series, “Sunny,” has dropped on Apple TV+ like a hot potato!
The 48-year-old Grammy-winning actress (yes, she has a Grammy, because why not?) stars in this new series alongside a star-studded cast that includes Hidetoshi Nishijima, Joanna Sotomura, Judy Ongg, YOU (no, not you, the actor YOU), annie the clumsy (hopefully not while acting), and Jun Kunimura.
So, what’s the scoop? Here’s the rundown: Rashida Jones plays Suzie, an American living it up in Kyoto, Japan, until her life does a triple backflip into chaos when her husband and son vanish in a mysterious plane crash. As a “sorry for your loss” gift, she’s handed Sunny, a cutting-edge domestic robot crafted by her husband’s electronics company. Suzie, understandably, isn’t thrilled about this robotic rebound. But, surprise, surprise, she and Sunny start to form an unlikely friendship. Together, they embark on a wild adventure to uncover the sinister truth behind her family’s disappearance, stumbling into a shadowy world Suzie didn’t even know existed. Talk about a plot twist!
And if starring in it wasn’t enough, Rashida Jones is also flexing her producer muscles on this show.
Mark your calendars and set your alarms! “Sunny” will shine on your screens with the first two episodes premiering globally on Wednesday, July 10. After that, you can look forward to a new episode every Wednesday until September 4.
