Eva Mendes has been living her best incognito life, possibly under the witness protection program of Hollywood, because it’s been about ten years since we last saw her strut her stuff on-screen. But guess what? She’s back, baby! Not with a new movie (don’t get too excited), but with a brand-new fashion campaign. She’s here to remind us all that she’s still got it at the ripe age of 50, starring in Stella McCartney’s latest campaign.
Eva took a quick break from her undercover celebrity lifestyle to drop by Good Morning America on Tuesday (September 17) in NYC, like a fashion superhero swooping in for a quick mission, wearing (surprise, surprise) Stella McCartney.
The campaign, hilariously titled “It’s About F–king Time,” is not just about cool clothes, but also about saving the planet. Because why just wear fashion when you can also yell, “Mother Earth, I got your back!”? Apparently, this whole thing is a rallying cry for eco-friendly warriors around the globe, like an army of chic tree huggers, ready to change the world, one recycled outfit at a time.
During her GMA chat, Eva gave us the scoop on why she decided to ghost Hollywood after starring in The Place Beyond the Pines with her equally dreamy partner, Ryan Gosling. “I don’t know when I’ll be back. I mean, maybe if there’s a role that doesn’t involve me running away from explosions in heels,” Eva said, probably not quoting herself. “Honestly, I was like, ‘I just worked with Ryan Gosling, THE Ryan Gosling, and we crushed it. Why not quit while I’m ahead? Like a Hollywood Seinfeld mic-drop moment.’ So yeah, who knows?”
And as if fashion and eco-activism weren’t enough, she’s now an author, too! Eva promoted her new children’s book Desi, Mami, and the Never-Ending Worries. Clearly, Eva’s ready to save the world, raise some mindful kids, and look fabulous doing it.
Oh, and in case it wasn’t obvious: yes, Eva was wearing Stella McCartney. Duh.
