When Elon Musk hosted Saturday Night Live back in 2021, it turns out he didn’t just stir up laughs—he stirred up some tears, too. SNL cast member Chloe Fineman has revealed that Elon managed to squeeze a few salty ones out of her during that infamous episode. Cue the dramatic music.
So, what did Musk have to say about this emotional ripple? He wasn’t exactly sitting around, sipping a latte, trying to get on everyone’s good side. In fact, he took to his favorite microphone—Twitter, or as he now insists, X—to address the situation.
“Look, I was legit sweating bullets. It was Thursday night, and none of the sketches were funny. Zero. Zilch,” Elon shared with his usual casual humility. “I thought, ‘My SNL episode is going to be so painfully unfunny it could drive a clown into finance.’ But hey, it all turned out fine in the end, right?” He’s got a point; after all, nothing says comedy gold like a near-disaster.
Chloe’s “I cried because of Elon” confession comes after her co-star Bowen Yang hinted that one guest host left a few people in tears. Chloe spilled the tea (and maybe a few more tears), confirming it was indeed Elon—and apparently, the trigger was his critique of SNL legend Dana Carvey’s impression of him. Maybe it’s the one downside of being a billionaire tech mogul: not everyone nails your vibe when they’re doing an impression, and apparently, that just won’t do.
In Elon’s defense, comedy doesn’t seem like it comes as naturally to him as, say, launching rockets or convincing people to buy cars that drive themselves. But hey, who knew a comedy show could spark this much drama? Tune in next week for more SNL plot twists…
Frankly, it was only on the Thursday before the Saturday that ANY of the sketches generated laughs. I was worried.
I was like damn my SNL appearance is going to be so fucking unfunny that it will make a crackhead sober!!
But then it worked out in the end 😮💨…
