Well, well, well—look who’s sitting pretty at the top of the Billboard 200 like a king on a golden throne made of streaming numbers. That’s right, Drake just booted Kendrick Lamar off the No. 1 spot with his brand-new album $ome $exy $ongs 4 U—a collaboration with PartyNextDoor, aka the guy who only comes outside when it’s time to drop a vibey R&B hook.
This marks Drake’s 14th No. 1 album, which means he’s now in a legendary three-way tie with Jay-Z and Taylor Swift for most chart-toppers among solo artists. (Somewhere, Taylor is probably plotting a re-recorded album called This Wasn’t Supposed to Happen (Drake’s Version).) The only artists with more No. 1s? The Beatles—who still have 19, because apparently, not even Drake can out-stream four dudes who broke up over 50 years ago.
Meanwhile, Kendrick’s album, GNX, had a glorious resurgence last week after his Super Bowl halftime performance melted faces. His 2017 album Damn and 2012’s Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City also decided to make a comeback, sliding back into the top 10 like exes who suddenly remember your number after you hit the lottery.
Drake, however, wasn’t playing around. His new album pulled in the biggest streaming week of 2025 so far, since Kendrick’s GNX originally snatched the No. 1 crown in December 2024.
So, what’s next in this chart battle? More diss tracks? Surprise album drops? A celebrity boxing match sponsored by Spotify? Stay tuned—this rap feud is the gift that keeps on giving.
