We have an update on one of the most iconic cryptid legends of our time: Poot Lovato. Yes, the blurry basement-dweller with a bowl cut and a haunted stare has returnedโฆ sort of.
In the most 2020s twist ever, Demi Lovato โ pop queen, skincare slayer, and occasional ghost hunter โ took to TikTok to address the undying internet plea: โFree Poot!โ
If youโre unfamiliar with the legend (first of all, welcome to the chaos), Poot Lovato was born from a low-resolution photo of Demi snapped in unflattering lighting and posted to Tumblr circa 2015. The internet, being the chaotic neutral entity it is, decided this was not Demi, but her secret twin, Poot, who had been locked in a basement for her entire life. Becauseโฆ reasons.
Fast forward to 2025 and Demi, now 32 and thriving, posted a TikTok with a caption that read,
โWhen someone asks me to let Poot out of the basementโฆโ
She lip syncs to a dramatic soundbite saying,
โWow, what an offer. Let me sleep on it though,โ
which is code for: “Absolutely not, keep that girl locked up with the 2010 memes where she belongs.”
In the videoโs caption, Demi doubles down with the line:
โAnd Iโm never letting her out.โ
Justice for Poot? Not today, Satan.
Naturally, the comments section turned into a full-on #FreePoot protest zone. Internet dwellers came crawling out like Poot herself, demanding her release. But Demiโs holding firm like a mom who said you canโt have a snack before dinner.
Meanwhile, in her other TikTok adventures, Demi is busy living her best main-character life: flexing cute outfits, casually strolling through Disneyland like a magical goth princess, cooking up a storm, and sneakily teasing new music.
So, while the world cries for Poot, Demiโs just out here thriving, glowing, and keeping the door to the Poot Portal firmly shut.
Long live the meme. Long live Poot (in the basement).
@ddlovato And Iโm never letting her out
