Busy Philipps is out here proving that organizing a high school reunion is easier than wrangling the cast of Dawson’s Creek for a comeback. But she’s determined!
In a new interview, Busy spilled the tea that she, Katie Holmes, and Michelle Williams are all in for a nostalgic reunion to support their former co-star James Van Der Beek, who is currently battling colorectal cancer. And if you thought getting a group chat to agree on dinner plans was hard, imagine syncing the schedules of Hollywood actors.
“We’re really trying to make this happen, but, you know, some people have these things called jobs that won’t budge,” Busy told Us Weekly, probably while juggling 20 different calendar invites. “It’s like playing chess—except no one knows the rules, and someone keeps knocking over the board. But I’m really hopeful!”
Despite the logistical nightmare, Busy assured fans that everyone is rallying behind James. “We’ve all been sending him every ounce of good vibes, prayers, and Dawson’s Creek nostalgia magic,” she said. “And he’s been posting on Instagram that he’s feeling good, which is all we want to hear!”
James first shared in November that he was diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer in 2023. Recently, he also revealed he’s been selling memorabilia to help cover the high costs of treatment. And let’s be real—if a Dawson’s Creek varsity jacket hits eBay, someone’s about to bid their life savings.
Here’s hoping this reunion finally comes together, because if we don’t see Pacey, Joey, Jen, and Dawson back in one room soon, we might have to start our own Kickstarter campaign to make it happen.
