We’ve got some somber yet surreal news. Seth Binzer, better known as Shifty Shellshock, the illustrious frontman of the band Crazy Town, has left the building at the age of 49.
According to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner, the “Butterfly” crooner has sung his final note in the great gig in the sky as of Monday, June 24th. TMZ swooped in with the scoop, but alas, the cause of death remains a mystery. Sherlock Holmes is probably scratching his head, as an investigation is underway to unravel the enigma of Shifty’s sudden departure.
Once upon a time in 1999, Seth joined forces with Bret “Epic” Mazur, and together they formed the legendary Crazy Town. They recruited a motley crew of musical maestros: Rust Epique (not to be confused with your local plumber), Doug Miller, James Bradley Jr., Antonio Lorenzo Valli, and Adam Goldstein. It was a recipe for rock ‘n’ roll mayhem, and boy, did they deliver.
Fast forward to the year 2000, when the world was blessed with their magnum opus, “Butterfly.” This earworm of a song fluttered into our lives and refused to leave, much like glitter after a craft project.
In this moment of mourning, our thoughts are with Shifty’s friends, family, and loved ones. May they find peace and perhaps a little bit of crazy joy in the memories. Rest in peace, Shifty. We’ll be sure to update this story if the plot thickens or the mystery deepens.
