Saturday Night Live is about to get a double dose of delightful chaos! That’s right, the sketch show that’s been around since dinosaurs roamed TV sets (or at least, since your parents stopped going out on Saturday nights) is bringing in two absolute powerhouses: Bill Burr and Charli XCX.
In one corner, we’ve got Bill Burr, a man who could roast a marshmallow just by glaring at it. Bill, 56, the Old Dads star, comedian, and possible cranky dad of the millennium, is stepping up for the first post-election SNL. He’ll be swinging onto the stage November 9, bringing along musician Mk.gee, who will no doubt try to balance out Bill’s spicy stand-up with some smooth guitar riffs. (And yes, that’s Mk.gee, which is also how a cat would try to spell their own name.)
For those scratching their heads: this is Bill’s second time hosting. He’s got some experience now, and you know what that means—way more chances for accidental swears during live TV. Go, Bill! We’re all rooting for ya!
And then, in the other corner, on November 16, the unapologetically bratty, delightfully chaotic Charli XCX is pulling a Beyoncé: she’ll be hosting and performing in one fell swoop. She’s been a musical guest twice before, but this time she’s got the microphone, the stage, and—presumably—the full run of Studio 8H. SNL better buckle up, because Charli doing double duty could mean anything from a symphonic synth-pop performance to some serious impromptu pyrotechnics. Anything’s possible, and she’s clearly ready to make this night iconic.
And don’t think we’ve forgotten about the opening act. SNL is kicking off its post-Halloween lineup with the wild comedic stylings of John Mulaney, aka the king of dark humor disguised in a sweater, on November 2. He’s paired with musical guest Chappell Roan, adding some serious star power to the first November episode.
So, mark your calendars, fire up the popcorn, and maybe warn the neighbors. This November, Saturday nights will feature the heavy-hitters of comedy, charisma, and maybe a bit of actual chaos.
