Chappell Roan Claps Back at Music Exec Who Called Her an ‘Instant Industry Insider’—With Receipts, Sass, and a $25K Challenge

Buy Me A Coffee

Chappell Roan just pulled the ultimate “put your money where your mouth is” move—and it is chef’s kiss perfection.

The 26-year-old musical sensation, who has been slaying her way through the industry, won Best New Artist at the 2025 Grammys. During her speech, she had the audacity (read: common sense) to suggest that record labels should, you know, actually pay their artists a livable wage and offer health insurance. Groundbreaking stuff, right?

Well, apparently, this sent music executive Jeff Rabhan into a full-blown existential crisis. He scribbled out a very serious essay for The Hollywood Reporter, calling her speech “misguided rhetoric” and basically implying that if Chappell wanted better conditions for artists, she should just personally fix the entire music industry herself. No biggie.

But Chappell did not come to play.

On Thursday, she hit Instagram with the comeback of the year, tagging Jeff and hitting him with a challenge so spicy it should come with a warning label:

💰 “Wanna match me $25K to donate to struggling dropped artists?” 💰

She even made it easy for him by providing her publicist’s contact info. A true queen of logistics.

But wait—there’s more!

“Will keep everyone updated on the much-awaited @jeffrabhan response!! And I will show receipts of the donations,” she wrote, implying that she would, in fact, expose the financial tea if necessary.

And because she’s that girl, she kept going:

“Mr. Rabhan, I love how in the article you said ‘put your money where your mouth is’—GENIUS!!! Let’s link and build together and see if you can do the same.”

Translation: Sir, the ball is in your court, but I’m already winning.

Then, just to show what real industry support looks like, she used the moment to shout out rising artists like Hemlocke Springs, Sarah Kinsley, Devon Again, and Baby Storme—because that’s how you use your platform.

Now, the only question that remains: Will Jeff pull out his checkbook or just keep typing think pieces? Stay tuned. 👀
