Camila Cabello just turned the MTV Video Music Awards into a full-on theatrical extravaganza!
The 27-year-old singer was out to make jaws drop with her new jam “Godspeed,” and boy, did she deliver. The whole thing kicked off with Camila rocking a blonde ‘do and serenading us with “June Gloom”—but plot twist! Turns out, that whole bit was just a pre-recorded video playing from a laptop.
In a dramatic reveal that could only be described as “hair-raising” (literally), Camila popped out from behind the laptop with long, flowing brunette locks and a dress that was half black, half white, and all fabulous.
Then things got wild: Camila was perched inside a clear box like some kind of pop diva trapped in a bubble, while her backup dancers outside brandished bats and crowbars like they were extras in a low-budget heist movie. It was unclear if they were preparing to smash their way out or just really, really into DIY home improvement.
In a grand finale that screamed “I’m done with this tech nonsense,” Camila hurled the laptop to the ground, stomped out of her clear box, and joined her dancers in a full-blown, end-of-the-world style performance. Honestly, if MTV’s goal was to leave us in awe and with a few unanswered questions, mission accomplished.
I don't lie @Camila_Cabello's #VMAs performance of "June Gloom" and "God Speed" was the best, ICONIC 💋 pic.twitter.com/D0Yb2jwiaR
