She said it was “something [she] had to do,” which sounds like code for “I wanted to spend more time in my pajamas.”
She elaborated, saying that taking a break “felt like something I had to do to reclaim my own life.” Because, really, who needs a million-dollar movie deal when you can reclaim your Netflix password and binge-watch shows in peace? “And I just really didn’t care about anything else,” she added, which is basically the ultimate power move—sorry, Hollywood, but I’ve got my snacks and my couch, and that’s all I need!
“Nobody’s opinion, nobody’s success, no one’s offer, no one’s anything could change my mind about my decision of taking care of myself and building the life that I really wanted to have,” she declared. In other words, while everyone else was busy chasing Oscar nominations, Cameron was chasing down the perfect avocado toast recipe.
And what was she passionate about during her sabbatical? “For me, it was to build my family.” That’s right! Forget Hollywood drama; Cameron was busy perfecting the art of family-building—probably while simultaneously working on the world’s best homemade pizza.
