Lil Nas X just did the unthinkable—he hit the eject button on WeHo Pride’s Outloud Music Festival faster than you can say “panini.”
The 26-year-old “Old Town Road” superstar was all set to bless the rainbow-soaked streets of West Hollywood on Sunday, June 1. But plot twist! Our fave cowboy unicorn has been sidelined by an ongoing medical issue—specifically, partial facial paralysis. (Yup, his face literally said “not today, Satan.”)
Festival organizers posted the news on Instagram like it was a modern Shakespearean tragedy:
“Over the past few days, we’ve been in close contact with Lil Nas X and his team regarding an ongoing medical issue.” Translation: “We’ve been texting him ‘u good?’ every hour on the hour.”
“Due to this we are sad to announce that Lil Nas X will no longer be able to perform at OUTLOUD Music Festival at WeHo Pride.” Cue collective gasps and dramatic pearl clutching.
Lil Nas X himself dropped a heartfelt note from his recovery lair (probably bedazzled, knowing him):
“After my recent hospital visit, I – like all of you should – must prioritize my health and getting back to 100%. As it currently stands, I would not be able to perform the type of show my fans and community deserve.”
Translation: “I refuse to give y’all anything less than full choreo and pyrotechnics while looking snatched.”
He added, “Even though I can’t be there, I hope you all show OUT for Pride. Now more than ever, we need to be seen.” We stan a socially conscious, glittery king.
But don’t cry into your rainbow frappuccino just yet! Stepping into the (very stylish) headliner shoes is none other than the genre-defying, funky-fabulous Remi Wolf. Yes, the chaotic-good queen of indie-pop madness will now be the Sunday night closer. Expect wild outfits, unhinged vocals, and vibes so electric they’ll make your eyebrows twitch.
So while Lil Nas X rests up and lets his face catch up with his fabulousness, let’s all wish him a speedy recovery—and get ready to boogie down with Remi like your rent depends on it.
We love you, Nas. Get well soon, and may your next hospital visit only be for emergency-level beauty treatments. 💅🏾
