Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo just waltzed onto the green carpet and turned it into a full-blown runway. The Wicked stars showed up to the London premiere like they were headlining Paris Fashion Week. Honestly, how are the rest of us supposed to keep up with this level of fabulousness?
The event, held at The Royal Festival Hall on November 18, was basically The Wizard of Oz, but make it couture. Ariana, 31, decided to channel sunshine itself in a bright yellow gown that screamed, “I’m the Glinda-est Glinda to ever Glinda.” Meanwhile, Cynthia, 37, came ready to snatch wigs in a black structured dress paired with a hat so chic it probably has its own passport.
Joining the Wicked glam squad were castmates Jonathan Bailey, who looked like a walking Ralph Lauren ad; Jeff Goldblum, proving that Burberry suits him as much as life finds a way; and Bowen Yang, who may or may not have brought Luar to Oz. Even Michelle Yeoh was there, casually reminding us she’s an actual queen, and Jeff brought his wife Emilie Livingston along, just in case we needed more proof that cool couples exist.
Let’s talk about Ariana and Cynthia’s press tour for a moment. These two have been crying so much in interviews, you’d think they were auditioning for a Kleenex sponsorship. Their emotional deep dives into what the movie means to them have gone so viral, Wicked might as well add “Tissue Sales Ambassador” to its box-office stats.
In case you missed the memo, Wicked—the movie adaptation of the Broadway musical that basically raised an entire generation of theater kids—is hitting theaters on November 22. And because one Wicked movie isn’t enough, the second part will drop in November 2025. That’s right, it’s a Wicked double feature, and we’re already planning to move into the cinema.
As for the fashion credits: Cynthia rocked a Schiaparelli dress accessorized with De Beers jewelry, proving diamonds really are a witch’s best friend. Jonathan’s Ralph Lauren tux was accessorized with custom shirt studs so classy they probably come with their own butler. Bowen showed up in Luar, because why settle for ordinary when you can serve avant-garde realness? And Jeff—well, Jeff in Burberry is practically a love letter to dapper dads everywhere.
If the green carpet was a competition, Ariana and Cynthia just took home the emerald trophy. Now excuse us while we attempt to recreate their looks using a glue gun and some old prom dresses.
