Aly Michalka has officially joined the mommy club!
In a sneaky move worthy of a spy movie, the 35-year-old songbird from Aly & AJ and her hubby, Stephen Ringer, welcomed their first mini-human—a bouncing baby boy—in a super chill home birth at their swanky Santa Barbara pad. This top-secret event went down back in April, but they just spilled the beans on Monday, June 10. Surprise!
The new tiny overlord has been dubbed Jack Francis, which, let’s be honest, sounds like he’s ready to step into a boardroom or a royal court. Aly dished to People about the little nugget’s grand entrance: “It was like a spa day, but with a lot more screaming and a lot less cucumber water.” Aly claims it was a “peaceful and calm” birth, which is probably code for “I didn’t throw anything at Stephen.” Baby Jack, according to Aly, is “a great little guy with a special disposition,” which we all know is parent-speak for “he’s cute even when he’s a screaming potato.”
Jack made his grand debut at 6:40 am on a lovely Sunday, April 21, fashionably early by two weeks, weighing in at 6 lbs., 10 oz. Tiny but mighty!
The name Jack Francis isn’t just plucked from thin air. It turns out, Jack is a nod to Aly’s late maternal grandfather, and Francis is a shout-out to Stephen’s side of the fam. They took one look at their new bundle of joy and thought, “Yep, he’s definitely a Jack.” No arguments there.
Aly’s been on cloud nine, soaking up all the baby snuggles and living the life of a pampered princess. “The first week was like a dreamy food coma,” she gushed. “I was in bed, getting gourmet meals from Stephen, hydrating, snoozing with Jack, and handling an Olympic-level number of diaper changes.” Sounds like paradise, minus the diapers.
Our dynamic duo, Aly and Stephen, tied the knot back in 2015 in a fairytale wedding in Italy. Flash forward to January of this year, and Aly dropped the baby bomb, announcing her pregnancy.
And now, with the arrival of little Jack Francis, their lives have transformed into one epic diaper-filled adventure. Congratulations, Aly and Stephen—may your coffee be strong, and your baby’s naps be long!
