Adam Levine just came back to The Voice after a ten-season break (aka a whole Netflix series worth of drama), and guess what? The man’s already cracking jokes about quitting. Yup. We’re this close to him pulling a Mariah Carey and spinning off into his own reality show called “I’m Over It: The Adam Levine Story.”
So, what pushed Adam to the brink of TV talent show burnout yet again? Well, on Monday night’s (April 7) episode, the show threw him into an emotional blender during the Knockout round. And Adam? He was not emotionally prepared.
His two contestants, Britton Moore and Ari Camille, went toe-to-toe in what can only be described as a vocal duel so intense, even Adele probably felt it in her tea. When it came time to pick who would move on, Adam had a full-on existential crisis right there on national television.
“I don’t know. I quit,” he announced like a man who just realized his UberEats order was delivered to the wrong house. Classic Adam. But after that dramatic mic-drop moment, he pulled it together just enough to say, “I think I’m going to go with the person who’s most ready to move forward right now.” Plot twist: He chose Britton.
RIP to Ari’s dreams—just kidding! Before you go staging a protest outside NBC, John Legend swooped in like the smooth R&B superhero he is and saved her. Now Ari’s on Team Legend, and Adam is one decision away from throwing a chair and heading back to Maroon 5.
Reflecting on his choice like a man who just survived a break-up AND a salad with no dressing, Adam said, “I went with my gut. Britton is so good. I couldn’t let him go.” Which, coincidentally, is also how most people feel about their favorite pizza place.
So for now, Adam’s still standing. But if things get any more dramatic, we expect him to be sipping tea backstage while Googling “how to fake your own reality TV death.”
