A$AP Rocky may be a cool, collected rapper, but when it came to his trial, he apparently turned into a protective boyfriend real quick. Too bad Rihanna didn’t get the memo—or, more likely, ignored it on purpose.
The Umbrella queen was front and center at A$AP’s trial, showing up with their two tiny heirs, RZA and Riot, like it was a family outing. And when the rapper was found not guilty on Tuesday (February 18), she was there to celebrate like she just won an Oscar for Best Girlfriend.
But plot twist—A$AP actually didn’t want her there!
The Lawyer Spills the Tea
According to A$AP’s lawyer, Joe Tacopina (who is apparently also a Rihanna wrangler now), the rapper was very against his billionaire bae pulling up to court.
“He didn’t want her there. He was very protective of her,” Tacopina said in an interview that quickly went viral on X (aka Twitter, for the OGs). “I was sort of supporting his decision to keep her away. The trial’s not about Rihanna.”
First of all, sir, everything is about Rihanna.
Rihanna’s Response? A Mic-Drop Moment
Despite A$AP’s wishes, Rihanna had a very Rihanna reaction to being told to stay away.
“She called me one day,” Tacopina revealed, “and she was like, ‘Joe, wild horses aren’t going to keep me away. So let him know I’m coming and deal with him.’”
Yes, you read that right. She basically delivered a movie one-liner and then showed up anyway.
Honestly, what did A$AP expect? This is the woman who turned pregnancy announcements into Super Bowl halftime shows. The woman who made maternity wear look like high fashion. If she wants to be somewhere, she will be there.
And in the end, it all worked out. A$AP walked free, Rihanna got her moment, and Joe Tacopina got a personal lesson in why nobody tells Rihanna what to do.
