In a whirlwind of glitter and glam, Ryan Gosling took the stage by storm with his show-stopping rendition of the Barbie classic, “I’m Just Ken,” at the 2024 Academy Awards!
At a sprightly 43, the ever-dapper Gosling, known for his Oscar-nominated prowess, led the charge alongside a squad of special guests, turning the Dolby Theatre into a Ken-tastic wonderland on that fateful Sunday evening.
“I’m Just Ken” strutted its stuff as one of the contenders for the coveted Best Original Song title, with all five nominees getting their moment in the spotlight. But let’s be real, Ryan’s performance was like a sparkling diamond in a sea of plastic accessories.
Joining Gosling in his Ken-tourage were the suave Simu Liu, the debonair Kingsley Ben-Adir, the charming Ncuti Gatwa, and the ever-smooth Scott Evans. And if you thought that was all, buckle up, because there were more surprises than a mystery date with Barbie herself!
While the promise of shirtless Kens didn’t quite materialize (seriously, what a missed opportunity!), the audience was treated to the legendary Slash shredding it up on guitar, making us forget all about those abs we never got to see. And as if that wasn’t enough, a cavalcade of celebs joined in on the catchy chorus.
Barbie babes Margot Robbie, America Ferrera, and Greta Gerwig all threw their hats (or tiaras) into the ring, belting out the tune with the gusto of a dream house’s first inhabitant. Even Ryan’s former on-screen flame Emma Stone couldn’t resist joining the Ken-fest, proving that once a Barbie girl, always a Barbie girl!
