Lady Gaga just went full-on fabulous at the 2024 Paris Olympics!
Our 38-year-old queen of Grammy and Oscar bling brought the house (or should I say the Seine?) down with a French rendition of “Mon Truc en Plumes” that left everyone gasping and asking, “Did she just sing that entire thing in French?” Oui, she did!
Draped in a chic black ensemble and rocking a feather in her hair like she just stepped out of an haute couture birdcage, Gaga pranced around with a posse of dancers wielding pink feathered props. It was like a flamingo fiesta on the Seine’s shores, and everyone was invited!
During her jaw-dropping performance, Gaga didn’t just stay on solid ground. Oh no, she hopped up and down stairs like a caffeinated bunny, tickled the ivories with flair, and got airlifted by her dancers like she was a pop diva astronaut.
Post-performance, Gaga took to Instagram to spill all the feathery details:
“I feel like I just hit the jackpot of life by being asked to open the Paris @Olympics 2024! I’m honored, humbled, and quite frankly, ready to faint. Singing this special French song—‘Mon Truc en Plumes’—to honor the French people and their fabulous history of art, music, and theater was a dream. Zizi Jeanmaire, the Parisian ballerina who originally sang this feather-tastic song in 1961, would be so proud. And guess what? This isn’t our first feathered rendezvous! Zizi starred in Cole Porter’s ‘Anything Goes,’ which was my first jazz release. Small world, huh?”
“Though I’m not a French artist, I’ve always felt a deep connection with the French—and not just because of the croissants. Singing French music makes me feel like I’m wrapped in a big, fluffy baguette of joy. I aimed to warm the hearts of France, celebrate its art, and give a shout-out to Paris, one of the most magical cities on earth. We got pom poms from Le Lido archive—a real French cabaret theater! Dior stepped in with custom costumes made of naturally molted feathers (no birds were plucked in the making of this performance). I brushed up on my French choreography, giving it a modern twist, and rehearsed like a madwoman. Fun fact: I used to dance at a 60’s French party on the Lower East Side when I was starting out. Who knew that’d come in handy?”
She wrapped it up with a heartfelt message: “I hope you love this performance as much as I do. To all my French fans, thank you for welcoming me to your beautiful country. Singing in honor of you is a gift I’ll treasure forever. Congratulations to all the athletes competing this year—you’re incredible! Watching the Olympics always makes me cry tears of joy and awe. Let the games begin!”
Lady Gaga: turning feathers, French tunes, and the Olympics into a fabulous frenzy of fun! Let the games—and the laughs—begin!
