The Weeknd is back at it again, proving he simply does not believe in rest. He just dropped his new album Hurry Up Tomorrow, and as if making bangers wasn’t enough, he decided to turn the whole thing into a movie. Because why not?
In this cinematic masterpiece (okay, we haven’t seen it yet, but let’s assume), a musician suffering from insomnia embarks on a trippy adventure with a mysterious stranger who casually starts dismantling his entire existence. Fun!
Joining The Weeknd on this wild ride are Barry Keoghan (who always looks like he knows something we don’t) and Jenna Ortega (the internet’s favorite Wednesday Addams). The whole mind-bending thriller is directed and co-written by Trey Edward Shults, who clearly enjoys messing with our heads.
Mark your calendars (or just set a reminder because, let’s be honest, nobody actually marks calendars anymore) – Hurry Up Tomorrow hits theaters on May 16.
Oh, and if that’s not enough, there’s also a trailer dropping this week because The Weeknd is out here working overtime. All this while his new album dominates the charts and he preps for his After Hours Til Dawn tour. Seriously, does this man even blink?
And in case you missed it, this album officially wraps up a trilogy that started with After Hours in 2020. Which means we can all stop speculating about whether he’s been secretly planning this for years. (Spoiler: He definitely has.)
