In a move that can only be described as pure Swiftian wizardry, Taylor Swift pulled a dusty relic out of her musical attic for its grand debut during her Eras Tour.
On Saturday (June 8), the 34-year-old queen of pop, known for her ability to write a breakup anthem like nobody’s business, graced the stage in Edinburg, Scotland. Amidst the bagpipes and kilts, she decided to blow the cobwebs off her 2009 tune “Crazier,” which, fun fact, made its first appearance on the Hannah Montana: The Movie soundtrack. Yes, you heard that right. Taylor Swift performed a song from a time when flip phones were cutting-edge technology and TikTok was just the sound a clock made.
As part of her tradition of mixing things up with Surprise Songs, Taylor gave “Crazier” the spotlight, pairing it with “All of the Girls You Loved Before” from her Lover era, released in 2023. It was like seeing a grandma do the Macarena with her TikTok-famous granddaughter.
Before launching into the musical time machine, Taylor threw down a challenge to her fans: “You’ll get extra points if you know this next song at all because it is really, really old.” That’s right, Swifties. We’re talking “before the iPad” old. The crowd, of course, responded with the kind of enthusiasm usually reserved for free pizza.
Taylor couldn’t help but gush over her fans, calling them “so unbelievable,” via People. And let’s be real, when Taylor Swift says you’re unbelievable, you frame that compliment and hang it on your wall.
For those who missed this blast from the past, worry not. You can catch the performance on X (formerly known as Twitter, back when it still had a bird logo and wasn’t trying to be the next James Bond).
