SZA isn’t just out here giving us emotionally devastating bops—she’s got Hollywood dreams too!
After making her acting debut alongside Keke Palmer in the comedy film One of Them Days (aka the movie that officially proves she can do everything), the 35-year-old “Saturn” singer is already setting her sights on something even bigger: superheroes.
Yep, during an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show on Friday (March 21), SZA spilled the tea on her ultimate dream role in the Marvel Universe.
“I would love to be a superhero,” she announced, and honestly, SAME. But here’s the twist—her favorite Marvel character is none other than Silver Surfer. “But Silver Surfer is a dude,” she lamented, clearly hinting that the world is ready for Silver Surfer, but make it SZA.
She went on to reveal that her dad is a hardcore comic book collector, hoarding first-edition Thor and Silver Surfer comics like they’re vintage Jordans. Thanks to him, she basically grew up marinating in Marvel and DC lore. (Some kids get bedtime stories; SZA got origin stories.)
But her real dream role? X-Men’s Storm.
“She comes from this whole other place where it’s the jungle…” SZA said, before adding that playing Storm’s origin story would be, and I quote, “so gnarly.” (She’s right, by the way. A Storm solo movie? Inject it into our veins, Marvel!)
“I love to bring the range,” she added, and yeah, we already knew that from her ability to make us cry and dance at the same time.
Oh, and before we go—SZA casually dropped that she and Taylor Swift have talked about making music together. That’s right, a possible SZA x Taylor collab. Somebody warn our playlists, because they are NOT ready for that level of excellence.
