Starbucks Put An End To Upcharge For Non-Dairy Milk Customizations

Buy Me A Coffee

Starbucks just dropped some cash-saving news that’s bound to make even the calmest coffee sippers do a double shot! Yes, the coffee juggernaut is finally getting rid of the upcharge for nondairy milks. No more worrying about selling a kidney to afford almond milk in your morning latte!

In a plot twist worthy of its own rom-com, this announcement came during Starbucks’ Q4 earnings call on October 30, a call which typically involves a lot of numbers and corporate jargon. But this time, they decided to sprinkle in a little holiday cheer. Starting November 7, just in time for their iconic holiday menu, you’ll be able to enjoy your peppermint mocha with almond, soy, oat, or coconut milk without an extra fee. That’s right – you can now fully embrace your lactose-averse self without breaking the bank!

But here’s the fine print: this deal only applies at Starbucks’ company-owned locations in the U.S. and Canada. So if you’re sipping on Starbucks halfway up a mountain or inside a rogue grocery store, sorry, but you’ll still have to cough up that extra 50 cents.

CEO Brian Niccol was practically beaming (at least, in corporate-speak) as he announced the change, explaining that part of Starbucks’ secret sauce is making every drink feel like it’s your drink. “Core to the Starbucks experience is the ability to customize your beverage to make it yours,” he said, which we all know is code for “we know you want your half-pump, no-foam, iced oat milk latte with caramel drizzle and a hint of lavender.” And hey, who doesn’t?

In his next bold move, Niccol hinted that this is just one of many updates to make Starbucks even more worth that long line and app glitches. Perhaps next, they’ll tackle the mystery of why mobile orders seem to disappear into the void or why the Wi-Fi can never connect when you need it most.

So mark your calendar, set your alarm, and get ready to roll into November with a little extra change in your pocket. Maybe even enough to snag a snowman cookie with that nondairy peppermint latte! Cheers to you, Starbucks – finally giving us milk for our money!
